Merry Fisher 895 Marlin: the SUV of the seas multi-program

,

Historically, the Marlin is the model in the Merry Fisher line designed for fishing. But this time, with the new Merry Fisher 895 Marlin, Jeanneau has built a boat designed for fishing that offers great versatility for both cruising and adventure. The boat has a unique and modern look, like a seagoing SUV, which is ready for a lot more than just fishing.

Comfortable fishing parties

Getting onboard is very easy. It can be done in several ways: the first is across the large swim platforms and through the aft gate. There is no step as the platforms are flush with the cockpit. Boarding can also be done through a bulwark gate, for easy and direct access to the recessed side deck. Finally, depending on how the boat is moored it is also possible to board across the bow as the open bow-rail has grab-rails and a stow-able step.

As on all models in the Marlin line, there is a very long, very wide cockpit where the design priority is fishing. The roof overhang is relatively short so as not to interfere with casting. The cockpit is also very deep, as is the recessed side deck, with secure handrails to hold on to. The side deck is flush with the cockpit and provides easy access to the helm station.

MerryFisher895MarlinSo, moving around on deck while fishing is a smooth flow through the wheelhouse side door and also through the aft sliding glass door.

With fishing still in mind, the boat can be equipped with an outside helm station, though not presented here. Rod holders can be installed on the transom above the outboard engines, on the aft quarter bulwarks, additional optional holders can also be installed on the roof.

The cockpit is completely modular. All the seats are foldable. There is also an optional folding side bench seat to starboard. So, in the blink of an eye, the seats can be stowed to open up all the space in the cockpit for fishing.

There is a comfortable fishing position, situated above the outboard motors. It is equipped with drink holders, cutting boards and access to a storage area for fishing accessories. This fishing station is on rails to both free up space when the engines are lowered and to be able to lift the engines completely out of the water.

On the port side you have a secondary access gate to really facilitate loading and unloading over the port side platform. The space to port can be equipped with an optional live-well… a really convenient feature for fishing.MerryFisher895Marlin

There is a telescopic sunshade to protect the cockpit, both while fishing or spending time with family. It is possible to fish and follow your catch, unencumbered. Another type of sunshade is also available. This sunshade is suspended but installed permanently in a fixed position. This fixed option is interesting because it allows for the enclosure of the entire cockpit.

For a sport or family navigation

The Merry Fisher 895 Marlin is equipped with outboard motors. The boat is available in two versions: standard and the off-shore. The difference is the maximum horsepower. With the off-shore version, outboards of up to 2X250 horsepower are available for maximum speeds around 43-45 knots depending on the load. The boat is already very pleasant with engines that are more modest, at 2X150 or 2X200 horsepower.

What sets the off-shore version apart is the category B registration and the greater capacity fuel tanks at 2X300 liters instead of the standard 2X200 liters. The fuel tanks are located on each side of the cockpit, under the deck. This layout leaves space for a large central storage locker between the tanks.

There is also an optional 3.5kW gasoline powered electric generator. This makes air conditioning possible while cruising in warmer climates. It also supplies the boat with 220v power when at anchor.

The wheelhouse is slightly offset to port. There is a secondary port side deck, but the reason of the offset is to increase the width and depth of the main side deck located to starboard and to allow for the side deck to be flush with the cockpit and secured by handrails. The side deck also has direct access to the helm station via the sliding side door. It is really very wide. When cruising at the helm, one gets the impression of being outside.

The helm station is well equipped. It features a large instrument panel able to install Garmin screens of up to 12 inches. This boat is equipped with a 9-inch Garmin screen. The controls for the motors are also located here. Sitting in the helm seat is very comfortable. But for a sportier feeling at the helm, with the bolster seat lifted it is possible to drive standing up.

The wheelhouse is really very large and comfortable, the saloon with face to face seating is equipped with a table… what’s unique with the boat we are looking at today, is the electrically operated soft-top. It opens up the roof completely for excellent ventilation and the feeling of being outside.

This table can fold to transform this seat into a co-pilots bench seat facing the sea. This feature is interesting because it allows all the passengers to be seated comfortably and facing forward.

To starboard, there is a storage unit with a cupboard and direct access to the power switches. Under the pilot’s seat, you have a large 65-liter fridge. The galley is located on the port side, in front of the co-pilot seat. Under the cover, there is a sink and a gas burner, right next to this folding countertop, a food preparation area for cooking.

The other major feature of the Merry Fisher 895 Marlin, is this real cockpit saloon located on the foredeck. So, a second cockpit on the boat, with L seating that can be completed with a table. Of course, it’s possible to also have another table for the rear cockpit.

This forward cockpit can be protected by a sunshade that is easy to install, and, of course, the whole cockpit can be transformed into a large sunbed.

And finally a little surprise, under the forward bench seat is a hatch, which can be used in several ways. This hatch makes it easy to stow all your forward cockpit upholstery directly into the forward cabin. It also can be used at night, when sleeping aboard, to ventilate the forward cabin.

MerryFisher895MarlinWe invite you now to follow us to the Jeanneau stand in the exposition hall at the Grand Pavois in la Rochelle to discover the standard version of this Merry Fisher 895 Marlin. This version is equipped with a polyester roof, but with a large roof hatch for great ventilation. As shown in these pictures, the Merry Fisher 895 Marlin exhibited here, has the large black roof rack. It is the boat’s signature feature. It gives it that adventurous look, and makes it possible to transport equipment like a paddle board. And this roof storage rack is available regardless of the version, hard top or soft top electric.

We’d like to take this opportunity to show you the cockpit saloon with all the seats down and the table installed. You really have a nice, easy to use living space. It’s very different and complementary to the fishing oriented open cockpit. We’d also like to show you the optional starboard bench seat.

A spacious night side with sea view

And now, let’s discover, an essential feature of this Merry Fisher 895 Marlin, namely two closed cabins, two double berth cabins and also a very comfortable head with a shower.MerryFisher895Marlin

The forward owner’s cabin, is particularly inviting. It has a very good ventilation with the porthole, and also the hatch that we saw previously. The hatch provides good ventilation and also plenty of natural light. In addition, there are skylights located in the roof and two hull windows on each side of the berth.

The vee-berth consists of two linked single berths that can be transformed into a large double berth with this sliding support and extra cushions.

The owners cabin, located forward, is complemented by a second cabin, set apart by a door. This second cabin is located to port. It has a bench seat with storage underneath. It has excellent ventilation and light with a large hull window and portal. And it has a double berth, which is located under the saloon.

MerryFisher895MarlinTo starboard, there is a very nice, fully equipped head with a marine toilet, waste water holding tank, a sink and also a shower, as the compartment has a drain.

As you’ve seen during the tour, the Merry Fisher 895 Marlin is a ship built for adventure. It offers tremendous opportunities, with a lot of space on the outside and inside, a rear cockpit, and a bow cockpit and two separate cabins. It is a boat that can go fishing and discover new horizons.

CAP CAMARAT 7.5 DC Série 2 : l’open familial et performant

, ,

MERRY FISHER 1095: the new XL signed by Jeanneau

,

A fantastic boat is born, at the leading-edge of market innovation, Jeanneau’s Merry Fisher 1095. If you remember just two years ago Jeanneau launched the Merry Fisher 895. It replaced the superb Merry Fisher 855 and opened a new pathway for the market segment with two closed cabins and outboard motors. This time, Jeanneau forged ahead, increased the size for greater cruising comfort, but maintained the outboard motors.

So it was with the combined experience of the 895 and the 855, and thanks to the great customer feedback Jeanneau received, that they were able to develop the Merry Fisher 1095. Many of their customers wanted to continue with outboard motors, because they are reliable and easy to use. Their use is a trend in this market segment.

To accommodate the outboards Jeanneau developed firstly a new and specific hull. Because it’s a real challenge to make a large outboard motorboat that is comfortable, the shipyard conducted a long series of tank tests in designing the hull. The results are beyond our expectations. The boat works very well with 2 300 horsepower motors, but it also works very well with 2 250 horsepower motors.

Maximum speeds are around 37 knots, but the boat is also able to cruise more slowly, in comfort, planing at 16-17 knots. But above all it has the ability to remain level and therefore is easy to handle at all speeds. People can accelerate, slow down and accelerate again without pushing the motors too hard.

Merry Fisher 1095 : comfortable even Speed

Merry Fisher 1095Access on board is very easy. One can come aboard aft via the large platform, here, which is flush with the cockpit and made secure by this handrail that separates the platform from the outboard motors. It is also very useful when climbing the swimming ladder. Access on board is also possible amidships thanks to this cut-out door, very convenient depending on your docking configuration. For example, when you are moored along a dock or when you are moored along a smaller pier. The side gate greatly facilitates boarding and disembarking.

Merry Fisher 1095

So we obviously find all the Merry Fisher line DNA in this boat, including the very large and welcoming cockpit saloon. It is possible to have a large teak table here, to seat many guests at lunch time. It is also possible to transform the saloon into a large sun deck. To do this, simply remove the  table, install this very lightweight aluminum support… It sets in here and is supported by both seats. And then just add the cushions and you have a very big sun deck.

This Merry Fisher 1095 also has an aft, port side access door. It’s this backrest, here, that opens. If the mooring configuration requires port side access, this makes it possible to disembark using the port side platform. The bench is mounted on rails and slides forward to optimize space. When the motors are lowered the space is at it’s largest. But when the engines are raised a usable cockpit remains. The access door remains functional when the bench is moved forward.

Merry Fisher 1095The cockpit saloon connects directly with the interior. Movement is direct between the aft cockpit and the galley, for example, which is located to starboard. To open the passage there is a three section sliding door. The three section door allows for fluid access and excellent ventilation between these two spaces.

On the port side, there is a comfortable saloon with two face-to-face benches and a folding table. The interesting thing about the folding table is that it allows for this bench to face forward. The ventilation on this boat is excellent. There are large windows with excellent visibility. This large window opens and really lets the outside in, especially when in the co-pilot seat. There are also two sliding roof panels and a side door next to the helm.

The cockpit is located to starboard. There is an adjustable steering Merry Fisher 1095wheel, all the instrumentation, a large 12 inche Garmin, the engine gages, the throttle and joystick to control the flaps… automatic Zipwake type flaps are an option, for fully automatic operation. There are standard flaps by Lenco, the boost thruster control or bow thruster which is very convenient for a boat this size. But above all you will notice the pilot has this side door which makes for great ventilation while cruising and also provides the pilot with very easy access to the exterior, for example during docking maneuvers.

Merry Fisher 1095 : ever greater Spaces

Merry Fisher 1095The first thing that hits you when looking around the Merry Fisher 1095, is the amount of storage on board. There is a storage locker located under the cockpit, in the center of the boat with the fuel tanks on each side, both 400 liters, it is a very deep hold, there is even a ladder to facilitate access. There is a lot of storage inside as well. For example, the cupboards located above the galley. The lower Merry Fisher 1095cupboards in the galley. There is also a storage locker located beneath the seat. And, typical for Jeanneau, a storage locker located under the floor, which is really useful for storing equipment. It is also a space where one of three optional air conditioning units can be installed, for a total of 28,000 BTUs.

Merry Fisher 1095On this boat there is one unique feature for a boat of this size: three cabins. An owners cabin located forward, a second cabin located to port and finally a third cabin that can also serve as a storage space. It is in this third cabin, for example, that a second optional 80 liter refrigerator can be installed.

Coming back to the storage, there is a lot in the owner’s cabin withMerry Fisher 1095 optional storage above and on each side of the berth, always very useful. These cupboards are located just above the large hull windows, which provide excellent visibility. In addition to a wardrobe located to starboard, there is a very large storage locker located under the berth.

Merry Fisher 1095

And finally, something really remarkable on the 1095, this beautiful head with a sink, a separate toilet and especially a very nice shower equipped with a seat.

Just as with the owner’s cabin, the second and third cabins have excellent natural light with skylights in the ceiling and very large hull windows with a view of the sea.

In conclusion, Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1095 brings a lot of innovation to this class of boats. A real cruiser with three cabins, a beautiful head, and outboard motors with really fantastic handling.
